Shelley Mau is the former chairperson and current advisor of New Jersey Chinese Cultural Studies
Foundation in 2001-2003. She was born in Hong Kong and studied at the University of Hong Kong
before immigrating to the United States in 1974.
With the sponsor of Bankers Trust Company, she completed her combined bachelor and master
degree program in business administration, majoring in public accounting and international finance
at Pace University. After graduation, she was promoted to vice president in the Global Markets.
In 1989, she joined Banco Santander as Treasurer and head of Capital Markets and worked in the
New York and London offices
In 1995, she joined American Express Financial Advisors Inc. as a financial advisor and earned the
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 1999. She has been the recipient of American
Express President's Recognition award for Quality of Advice in 1997 and 2002 and received awards
for her annual clients' satisfaction surveys in 2001 and 2002. For community service, she was a guest
speaker on News Channel 4, WNBC financial programs and other financial forums organized by banks
and non-profit organizations. Shelley has always been very active in the Chinese Community. She
was one of the founders of the Univoice Chorus, the Treasurer and Drama Director of the Hong Kong
Students Association and the news anchorperson for CCTV, a local Chinese television station in New
York City.
